I grew up with maps. As someone born and raised in the South, I thought the author did a great job of presenting the unsavory aspects of Southern history and culture in a direct but unapologetic way. At many times, the characters didn't seem like genuine teenagers, especially when it came to the feeling of love. Because we cannot know what the future holds for us.
